White Sands, NM
At the center of the Tularosa Basin at the northern end of the Chihuan Desert lies one of America's great natuarl wonders, the white sands of New Mexico. Spectacular snow white dunes of gypsum cover a 275 square mile area to create the largest gypsum dune field in the world. Driven by strong, southwest winds, the sands continually shift & move. A few species of plants & wildlife have managed to adapt to this harsh environment, giving testimony to the resiliency of nature.
