The Grand Canyon
The Grand Canyon, located in Arizona, is a huge fissure in the Colorado Plateau carved by the immense power of the Colorado River. Known for its enormous size, the canyon extends to a length of 277 miles, reaches depths of over a mile & is up to 18 miles wide. Geologically it is significant because of the beautifully preserved ancient rocks exposed in its walls exposing much of the early geologic history of North America. These boring statistics will mean nothing however when you visit the place & are quite literally awestruck by its colorful landscape. I am not nearly a skilled enough photographer nor could I afford the equipment necessary to do the place justice. I'm not sure that anybody is.
